Winter Waters: Gold Beach
Friday, February 27, 2026, 12:30-3:30pm — Gold Beach, OR
Mark your calendar and be part of something extra special in Gold Beach. We’re putting on a Gold Beach Seafood Tour, including a behind the scenes look at how your seafood is processed at Fishermen Direct Seafoods, complete with smoked fish tasting and a Dungeness crab picking demo (learn from the professionals!). You’ll have the opportunity to buy a huge variety of local seafood, so make sure to bring a cooler. We’ll enjoy lunch from the folks at Woggy’s, a fisher-family owned and operated eatery that only sells the fish they catch, and makes incredible fish & chips and rockfish sandwiches. While enjoying lunch, participant will have the chance to learn all about sea urchins, Oregon’s Kelp forests, and the work Oregon Kelp Alliance is doing to restore and protect the local ecosystems on the South coast.
Gold Beach, named for its role in the Oregon Gold Rush, is located at the mouth of the Rogue River — one of Oregon’s famous Wild & Scenic Rivers that flows from the Crater Lake area to the Pacific.
Thank you to Travel Southern Oregon Coast and Oregon’s Wild Rivers Coast for sponsoring Winter Waters in Gold Beach.

About Us
Winter Waters is an Oregon-born initiative dedicated to promoting seaweed as a superfood culinary ingredient and enhancing local Oregon coast food systems. Our mission is to bridge the gap between consumers and sustainable seafood sources through education and shared meals.
Each February, Winter Waters collaborates with chefs and tastemakers to celebrate local seafood! The state of Oregon boasts some of the most sustainable fisheries in the world, yet much of the seafood produced is exported, and a significant portion of consumed seafood is imported (about 90%!). There is a disconnect between the people and the process and we’d like to help bridge this gap through education and delicious culinary experiences.
